Ring…Ring…

One call from her past was all it took to change everything.

A ten-year-old girl has vanished on her way home from camp.
And things took a turn for the worse when another child, a child that Emma knows, goes missing.

Disappearances, death, and tragedies has followed Emma Griffin throughout her childhood.
Her obsession with finding out the truth behind her past was what led her to join the FBI.

It’s been months since the horror of Feather Nest.
After the shocking revelation of the last case, FBI agent Emma Griffin decides to take a much-needed vacation.
But a phone call from Sheriff Sam Johnson, a man from her past, completely derails her plans.
A young girl has disappeared, and another child has gone missing.
With the number count slowly climbing.
Emma must now put her plans on hold, go back to her hometown and face some ghosts from her past.
When a mysterious package appears on her birthday.
Emma can’t shake the feeling that someone is monitoring her every movement.
Someone is getting too close for comfort.
The question is who?

In the close-knit town of Sherwood, the truth is never as it seems.

Good book except for unnecessary foul language.

I enjoyed the book except for the use of foul language. I won’t read the others because of the language. It degrades the whole book.

Okay. I read book 1, reviewed it, and my words were “Good, not great…. Needs more finesse and better editing.” I really like Emma. The character development for her is pretty good. The books start off intriguing and pull you in. It’s the endings that fall apart. **SPOILER ALERT** So again, we’re dragged along in this mystery of Emma’s parents. The early chapters have someone following Emma, watching/protecting her from afar, but as the mystery unfolds in Sherwood, we don’t get any more about it. We’re made to think the Pastor is the psycho, or maybe Vincent. The end was pretty surprising, but for the wrong reasons. Valerie’s character development sucked. She was played off like she’s a “Karen”- controlling, rude, etc. We go through all this investigation and then the ending just kind of pops out of nowhere and Emma has solved everything, psychologically profiled her, and confronts her in an abandoned school gym (would’ve been way cooler to have done a flashback of them playing there as kids or something- but that doesn’t really fit with Emma’s weird faulty childhood memories <<eye roll>>) The psychological part of her kidnapping children Bc she’s obsessed with words and books and wants to be with 2 men but stay with her husband Bc she’s a perfectionist who doesn’t want to be labeled a divorcee… uh really? And Emma just randomly puts that together? Oh but she also changes her handwriting to match whoever she’s thinking about. I’m sorry, but no. It’s not working for me.

I gave the author a second chance, but I won’t be reading any more of these books. I feel like the author has the potential, but really needs to dig deeper. These might be a good fit for teens getting into crime mysteries. There’s little to no cussing that I can remember and no sex- which is fine by me. Kind of refreshing actually. They’re really quick reads. And magically all the good twists and turns get resolved and explained in the last few chapters. Kind of like an episode of Matlock. Then a cliffhanger comes at the end so you read the next book. I think maybe younger or less (no offense) well-read people would enjoy these. Those of us who are older and have been reading thrillers for a long time- just not cutting it. I do hope the author gets some better editors and develops more “finesse.” I think it’s possible that they could be excellent writers in the future.

I just finished reading this book and I already ordered book #3. I really like the books in this series. I like the characters, the story plots and the twists. I saw that there is a 4th book coming soon. I will get it as soon as it is in paperback form. The only thing I would say that is not fully positive is about the text. There are several mistakes. The text needs to be edited for typos/grammatical mistakes. Apart from that please keep those great Emma Griffin books coming!

The only reason I would give it four stars instead of five is that the ending was pretty abrupt - summed up a bunch of things in just a few short paragraphs. And I hd a few questions that I can’t ask without providing spoilers - to put it generally would have liked more wrap up and explanations.

I really enjoyed this book. I spent almost two days just reading it. The first book was great and a good prequel to it. You did not have to read one to enjoy the otherone. Like all good books you can not read just one.

Girl in Cabin 13 surprised me so much that I''d put all other books in my tbr on back burner for Girl that vanished. Sadly, this book doesn''t turn out to be a worthy successor. There was more thrill than slow burn. The story surely would keep you on the edge of the seat but the dark and twisting storytelling was missing. Kids are missing from Emma Griffin''s , their initials following alphabets. In addition to this, the killer is also leaving clues for the cops to find the missing kids. The motives behind the kidnappings isn''t strong enough, the killer doesn''t look convincing either. I''ll try the third book though as I still have faith in the author''s storytelling skills.
