From the manufacturer

Premium Ball Joints

Featuring problem-solving innovations for long life and increased durability, MOOG takes pride in being called The Problem Solver. These advancements lead to long-lasting ball joints that are designed, tested and manufactured for easy installation and perfect fit right out of the box.

HEAT TREATED STUD

Ball studs are heat treated to match or exceed OE requirements to inhibit premature failure and improve fatigue strength

COVER PLATE

Pressed-in cover plate (where applicable) seals out debris and minimizes looseness, reducing bearing wear and promoting longer life

GREASABLE DESIGN

Greasable socket reduces corrosion and wear by allowing new lubricant to flush contaminants (where applicable)

GUSHER BEARING

Problem Solver gusher bearing metal-to-metal design provides strength and allows grease to flow through bearing surface for reduced friction and long life (where applicable)

WHAT ARE BALL JOINTS?

A critical component of the front suspension, ball joints consist of a ball and socket similar to the hip joint of the human body. Ball joints provide pivoting movement between the steering knuckles and control arms to provide a safe, smooth ride and allow you to precisely control your vehicle.

Think your ball joints have gone bad? Worn ball joints contribute to looseness in the front suspension and prevent your vehicle from maintaining wheel alignment. You may experience steering looseness, steering vibration, unusual noises and excessive tire wear.

VEHICLE PULLING TO LEFT OR RIGHT?

A failing ball joint can cause your vehicle to pull to the left or right which makes it difficult to control your vehicle.

FRONT END SHIMMY

Loose suspension system components such as ball joints can contribute to front end shimmy. You may feel vibration through the seat, steering wheel or brake pedal.

UNEVEN OR PREMATURE TIRE WEAR

Excessive inner tire wear is a sign that there could be something wrong with your ball joints.

POTHOLE DAMAGE

Repeatedly running over potholes can have a detrimental effect on your vehicle’s suspension system. If you hit a large pothole, look for signs of suspension problems like: bottoming out, excessive bouncing and loss of control, vibration in your steering wheel, loose steering, car pulling to one side or uneven tire wear.

Description

Backed by superior materials and rigorous testing, MOOG® ball joints deliver reliable performance you can count on. MOOG problem-solving innovations ensure fast, hassle-free installation.

Good quality product in itself. They were easy enough to install and the rubber seal only needs to be installed hand-tight using a ball joint press. The biggest trouble, of course, is getting the old ones separated from the steering knuckles. Buyer alert! Good looking joint but it leaked grease right through the rubber boot instead of at the grease relief port! Second boot direct from Moog did the same. Third boot taken locally from a new joint also leaked grease right through the rubber as if porous or cracked. Grease relief ports all dry as a bone, showing boots not over-greased. No grease ever reached there in any of the boots. All three boots (and joint) installed by professional (licensed) technician. Concern for stretching the tapered hole in the knuckle from repeated separation of the joint has lead to attempting repair with RTV instead of another replacement boot (and possibly another leak!). Repair holding for now but always the worry of how long the RTV will hold. I cannot be the only one having this problem. The boots came from three different sources. Moog must be aware of the problem but has not (yet?) addressed it. Until then: buyer beware and check your boots after greasing!
